Why did you choose to work at Allstate Investments?
Allstate Investments' reputation and well known brand strength was a huge draw for me. I also liked that I saw women in prominent positions and that Allstate Investments was living up to its reputation for having a strong commitment to diversity. It was also a unique opportunity to be connected to Wall Street within the confines of a strong company.
What are the key aspects of your daily work?
I take a view on what I think the market will do each day, and my view ultimately shapes my trading decisions. When my conviction is right, it is a powerful feeling to know that I made money for the portfolio managers!
Clear and frequent communication with the portfolio managers is vital as we work together to develop a strategy to best trade their stocks. Orders usually involve hundreds of thousands of shares, multiple million dollars.
I also work with the head trader on the desk and each day we help each other with breaking news, analyzing economic data, reading technical charts etc.-things that could impact the market or the stocks that we are trading. We really try to help each other out and truly function as a team!
What keeps you here?
The people and Allstate Investments' positive support of work/life, and family balance keeps me here. I have 2 small children and work/life, family balance has never been more important to me than now.
What’s most important to you about your job at Allstate Investments?
Feeling appreciated for my hard work and efforts; My recent promotion was a great example of that...
